13 sculptors, 25 action figures, 3 large-scale playsets and not a lot of time. Let's work some magic!
Harry Potter Action Figures and Playsets
When we have over a dozen sculptors working on a project, you know it’s a big one! To physically sculpt the fully articulated action figures for Corgi we first created all of the joints and assembled them into an articulated skeleton, onto which we could sculpt with epoxy putty or polymer clay. We captured likenesses using a mix of 2D artwork supplied by our client, or film reference straight from the Warner Brothers studio! Once our team had completed the sculpts, we made a silicone tool for each one before casting prototypes in a
self-coloured ABS-like SG95 resin. The moulded prototypes were then painted again using a wealth of reference material to ensure perfect likenesses. Alongside this process Sculptworks also created soft-goods in-house for some of the characters; ranging from a Dementor’s cloak to a Grawp’s loincloth. The massive range of 25 action figures along with 3 playsets, sold extremely successfully! We enjoyed this project so much that we worked on a few more Harry Potter projects afterwards. Why not check out another one?
