Sculptworks were lucky enough to work on Wenlock   and Mandeville before their official release on the BBC.

 London 2012 Olympic Mascots

It was the fastest spreading pandemic in Britain since 1346 AD; Olympic fever! Cast your mind back a few years and remember the joy, pain, camaraderie and patriotism of the London 2012 Olympic games. So you can imagine the pride we felt here at Sculptworks when we were asked to sculpt and prototype the 2 foot high models of our beloved mascots Wenlock and Mandeville, before they were even released to the public on the BBC!

We began by digitally sculpting the figures using the existing 2D reference artwork, before CNC machining and chrome plating them. Custom artwork was then created in house and applied by the steady hands of our skilled model makers. We were honoured to have worked on a piece of British history and hope you’ll agree that the finished figures looked incredible. Check out this video of Claire Balding and Grant Hunter (the mascots’ designer) chatting about our sculpts on the One Show!
